Wildlife in Paradise

This past Saturday I was proud to attend a benefit for the Florida Wildlife Hospital called "Wild About Wildlife".  It was an all you can eat seafood buffet at Wild Market at Port Canaveral.  FRESH shrimp caught just off the coast and FRESH blue crab caught the day before in our very own Indian River.

It was a great community collaboration put on by an army of dedicated volunteers.  Dixie Crossroads Restaurant supplied the grub and the students from Cocoa and Titusville High School culinary students prepared, cooked and served.  I was very impressed with how focused and on task each of them was - I didn't see one IPhone!

The army of FWH volunteers was in full force! The CORE group was out there with the FWH educational animals,  the event committee had fantastic raffle prizes and both a silent and live auction, the Tree Frogs provided music and Greg Pallone from News 13 was the MC.

One of things I thought was really cool was that the oyster shells from lunch were collected by the Brevard Zoo Staff for the Indian River restoration project.

On top of all that - it was beautiful day in Paradise at the Port.
