Riding Viera

Image
You know you're in Florida when... I've taken up to riding my bicycle around the neighborhood to better orient myself with surrounding communities and too get exercise.  My rides are from 6 to 8 miles long.  The other day I had to stop and take a picture of this guy.  He was hanging out in the pond at the entrance of my subdivision.  He's just a little guy... but I still didn't want to get too close.  Today I had to break for a squirrel - He ran out right in front of me!  Silly squirrel. Life is Good

Life is Good & Learning Everyday I love my new job as a Realtor!  Each day something new comes along that I get to wrap my head around so I become knowledgeable about what ever it happens to be.  This week I learned about p olybutylene pipes. Polybutylene is a form of plastic resin that was used extensively in the manufacture of water supply piping from the late 70's to mid 90's.  At the time it was considered "the pipe of the future" and was used as a substitute for copper piping.  Guess where it was most commonly found - yup - Florida.  Little did they know at the time that the piping and fittings deteriorated from the oxidants in the public water supply (chlorine) and subsequently insurance companies have 'blacklisted' this material.  In short, you can't get insurance on a home with polybutylene piping.  A whole house re-plumb is the only way to get around it. If it's in a condo; be prepared to pay cash. When you are buying a home, ma

Happy Easter to all.  You might have seen this picture before but I keep going back to it because it reminds me that each new day is fresh start; a new beginning.  It doesn't matter if goals were not met the day before, get up and work on them again today.  Although I don't celebrate the religious meaning of Easter anymore, I am thankful for the gathering of my family each year.  I think there will be a count of 26 this year.  I'm always asked to make Irish Bread and "Aunt Fran's Famous Macaroni Salad".  "Aunt Fran" of course being my Mom. It was a dish she always made and everyone loves.  I think I made it for about 5 years prior to her passing and have continued to make it in her honor for the past 11 years. Here's the recipe if you would like to try it: "Aunt Fran's Famous Macaroni Salad" 1 lb box of elbow noodles 2 cans of Albacore Tuna (drained)- I use Bumble Bee White Albacore in water 1/2 to 3/4 jar Mayonnais

Wildlife in Paradise

This past Saturday I was proud to attend a benefit for the Florida Wildlife Hospital called "Wild About Wildlife".  It was an all you can eat seafood buffet at Wild Market at Port Canaveral.  FRESH shrimp caught just off the coast and FRESH blue crab caught the day before in our very own Indian River.  It was a great community collaboration put on by an army of dedicated volunteers.  Dixie Crossroads Restaurant supplied the grub and the students from Cocoa and Titusville High School culinary students prepared, cooked and served.  I was very impressed with how focused and on task each of them was - I didn't see one IPhone! The army of FWH volunteers was in full force! The CORE group was out there with the FWH educational animals,  the event committee had fantastic raffle prizes and both a silent and live auction, the Tree Frogs provided music and Greg Pallone from News 13 was the MC. One of things I thought was really cool was that the oyster shells from lunch wer

Another week in Paradise

Wow - I can't believe it's been a whole week since my last post.  The weekends go by fast for me because I'm usually doing an open house.  As a new real estate agent it is a great way for me to get out in front of active buyers and get a chance to be the one who helps them find their new home.  I didn't get much action this time but I did get a nice visit from A Buyer’s Choice Home Inspection c ompany who brought me snacks :)  That was so nice. Today I went the Duran Ladies Par 3 again (my second time) and LOVED it again. I met some more people and this time I won 3rd place gross with a 37  so golf only cost me $2 😊 woot woot! Imagine what my score would be if I could actually hit a green LOL. Click here to search Brevard Homes

What a beautiful day it was today.  After wanting to for so long, I finally went up to Duran Golf Club to check out the ladies Par 3 league. All I can say was Wow!  Everyone I met was so friendly and inviting.  Not only was it fun; I actually won 2nd place gross score with a 36!  Free golf is pretty exciting :).  As we were waiting our turn on hole 4 my group was commenting on the how much Viera is growing and what we thought the new construction site was across from the Avenue.  We concluded that it could be the new Viera Town Center and possibly the site of the Fairfield Inn & Suites.  Thank you ladies for a fun time! I'm definitely going to put this league on my calendar :)

Welcome to Living in Paradise.  My name is Eileen Olejarski and I've been living on the Space Coast since my family moved here from Staten Island, NY just before I turned 10.  So...although I'm not native-born I consider myself a native since I spent my formative years in small, quiet, & lazy Indian Harbour Beach.  No matter how many times I spread my wings towards new adventures, I always found my way home to Brevard - where my family is, and where my heart lives. My journey has brought me to a new adventure as a Realtor with SunCoast Real Estate Group in my hometown Indian Harbour Beach and this blog is my way of connecting my world with yours. Call, Text, or Email me anytime regarding any of the posts you find interesting or if I can help you, your friends or your family with any real estate needs.
